What I Found While Looking Around

I've noticed that we go through our life, doing what needs done, hurrying from here to there, and we quit looking around. But the other day as I was walking down Washington St. to the post office, for some reason, the elevators really stood out. I guess because the trees are naked? I don't know. I mean, I walk that road often and yet, there they are. The backdrop to Altamont. Huge but behind the scenes. So, today, I present the Grain Elevators!

Pancake Breakfast!

Not really much to say here, except that The Altamont Volunteer Fire Department guys had their annual Pancake Breakfast Saturday morning.

Maybe it was because of the beautiful weather they were blessed with, or maybe everyone was just hungry, but they had a good turnout. And I might mention, the food was wonderfully tasty!

Garden Club Fall Festival

Better late than never! I meant to post this earlier this week, but life stuff got in the way, like normal. Anyway, after a wet start to the morning, the day ended up cloudy and cool- just perfect for chili. It seemed to me that there was a good crowd. It's nice to see that the Garden Club gets support from the community.
The winners of the cook-off was Larry Quandt (People's choice) and Kieffer Milam (Judges' choice.)

Plus, there was a bake sale, sandwiches and chips, a silent auction, mums and pumpkins, music, a vendor area and a kids corner.

Good times were had by all! (and it's for a good cause!)

About Town

So this happened. We've actually had no rain for a few days--and the flowers must be watered! I actually had some "guests" in town a couple of weeks ago that asked me if they were real. I assured them that they are!

Snow On Main Street

Yesterday we got our first real snow for the winter, by which I mean it was more than an inch and isn't going away any time soon. I don't mind snow, not really, but I prefer it in December. By February I'm just looking forward to Spring.
