We had a beautiful day for the Halloween Parade! This year's parade featured a half-dozen area Bands, which I like to see. The kids in costumes joined in on Main Street for the judging. Maybe it was the wonderful weather, but there was a good crowd gathered along the route.
Welcome to Altamont, Illinois! We are your typical small Midwestern town. You can find us half-way between St. Louis and Terre Haute, just off Interstate 70. Hope this site will encourage you to stop and visit if you've never been here, and if you have, I hope I renew some good memories!

Memorial Day in Altamont
Altamont hosted its annual Memorial Day Parade on Monday, May 26. It's a nice little parade that starts at the High School and ends at Union Cemetary, where there is a ceremony to mark the day.Along with the obligatory firetrucks and ambulances, tractors and horses, there was also the color guard, church groups and Shriners.
And of course, lots of candy for the kids!
